FOX NEWS REMEMBERS – The conclusion of a journey, the close of an era! Countless hearts at Fox News are saddened – ‘Farewell Steve Doocy, you will always hold a place in our hearts’

Steve Doocy, co-host of Fox & Friends, has announced his upcoming transition to a new role after many years on the show’s ‘curvy couch.’ On May 1, he revealed that he will be leaving the Fox studio to embark on a journey across the nation.
In his new role as a host for Fox & Friends remote assignments, Doocy will be stationed in Florida while making remote appearances on the show, which will continue to be based in New York City. He will contribute segments from various locations across the country alongside co-hosts Brian Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt, and Lawrence Jones, according to a press release provided to PEOPLE.
Doocy revealed his intentions to the audience during the live broadcast of Fox & Friends on May 1, stating, “After many years of waking up at 3:30 AM and commuting to New York City in the early hours, today marks my final day hosting the show from the couch.”
Doocy stated, “I am not stepping down. I am not departing from the show. I remain a host, but I believe it is time for a transition.”
In his new position, Doocy — a co-founder of Fox & Friends and a co-host since its inception in 1998 — will operate three days a week from Florida, while also traveling to various regions of America that receive limited network coverage, as he stated on the program, referring to himself as ‘the coast-to-coast host.’
Although he will not be broadcasting from the New York studio, Doocy assured viewers, “I will remain a part of this couch crew for commentary. You have placed your trust in me over the years, and rest assured, you will continue to hear my voice and my perspectives.”
The new position will also allow Doocy to spend more time with his family, as he has children Peter, Mary, and Sally with his wife Kathy Doocy, and is a grandfather to Bridget, Arthur, both aged 2, and 2-week-old George. Steve is set to become a grandfather of four in July, when Sally is anticipated to welcome her second child, a son, as he informed the audience.
During my children’s upbringing, I did not share breakfast with them. I was consistently present, as Doocy mentioned. However, beginning tomorrow, I intend to have breakfast with my grandchildren and children whenever possible.
During a conversation with PEOPLE last month regarding the arrival of George, Steve expressed his eagerness to spend time with his youngest grandson. He remarked, ‘As a grandparent, my role is to indulge them excessively for the entirety of their lives.’
