We’re ticking even closer to midnight on the Doomsday Clock, as President Donald Trump has launched a ‘divisive and powerful’ bombing on Yemen’s Houthi rebels. After Yemeni Houthis tried to attack USS Harry S. Truman, the US led airstrikes against Houthi-led areas with at least 53 dead and 98 injured.
There’s been plenty of talk about a potential World War 3, and like the Doomsday Clock warned as it edged closer to midnight than ever before, the geopolitical situation only looks like it’s getting worse.
The Houthi airstrikes come just days after we heard about Elon Musk supposedly being briefed on the US’ ‘secret plans’ on how to tackle China in the event of war. While the bombings came as a shock to many, someone apparently knew before the rest of us.
According to The Atlantic, editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally texted confirmation of the attack some two hours before it happened. In the tell-all piece, Goldberg claims he was added to a Signal message group that included senior members of the Trump administration like Vice President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The classified military plans are said to have included “precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing.”
Goldberg says he was accidentally added to the group after receiving a request from an account believed to belong to White House National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.
Speaking to PBS, Goldberg admitted: “If they’re going to pick an errant phone number, I mean, at least it wasn’t somebody who supported the Houthis, because they were actually handing out information that I believe could have endangered the lives of American servicepeople who were involved in that operation.”
It didn’t take long for Elon Musk to wade into the situation, and despite being a ‘special government employee’, his position as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency has raised questions about how entrenched in the White House he is.
Taking to X, he called out Goldberg’s post and wrote: “Best place to hide a dead body is page 2 of The Atlantic magazine, because no one ever goes there.”
Even if Musk is seemingly downplaying the severity of the leak, it seems there are plenty of people that do go there when it comes to The Atlantic. With the story going viral across multiple outlets, there’s been immediate backlash from the Democrat opposition and several Republicans. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer referred to the incident and said: “This is one of the most stunning breaches of military intelligence that I have read about in a very, very long time.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has spoken out about the leaks and added: “The attacks on the Houthis have been highly successful and effective. President Trump continues to have the utmost confidence in his national security team, including National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.”
Meanwhile, Hegseth has branded Goldberg as ‘deceitful and highly discredited’.
As for Musk, many turned against him for his flippant comment, as one critic wrote: “Elon is trying to discredit the Atlantic because it made his administration look terrible today.”
Another added: “That’s funny, but Pete f**ked up Elon. And I support this administration, but holy sh*t.”
Someone else concluded: “People are leaving this app in droves, they are selling your cars at a rate higher with lower value than any other car company. You are no one to talk. Hegseth is an idiot. Unqualified for his position. Would you hire him? Hell no you wouldn’t. WE KNOW……”

For those already worried about Elon Musk’s closeness to American politics and position at the side of President Donald Trump, reports that he’s going to be briefed on a ‘secret plan’ on how to deal with China in the event of war are only going to heighten those complaints.
Even though Elon Musk‘s designation as a ‘special government employee’ means he has limited powers, he’s been accused of getting his feet under the presidential desk at the White House ever since he stepped up as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
This became even more apparent when Musk waded into the tense situation surrounding the Russia-Ukraine war and branded Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky ‘evil’.
With President Trump and Russia both issuing warnings about a potential World War III, there’s a reason the Doomsday Clock has nudged closer to midnight than ever before.

Now, The New York Times claims there are serious talks underway about supposed global conflicts, with the world’s richest man set to be briefed by the Pentagon about China.
Two US officials said that Musk will be told about the military’s plan in case of war, while another said the proposed meeting will be centered around China. A fourth claimed that Musk will be attending the Pentagon on March 21, but offered no other details.
Hours after the NYT’s article went live, Trump attempted to debunk some of the rumors as he took to Truth Social to state: “China will not even be mentioned or discussed.”
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, one official claimed Musk was being given a briefing because he asked for one, and that while he has security clearance, he isn’t in the military chain of command or thought to be a military advisor to the POTUS.
Sean Parnell, the chief Defense Department spokesman, told the NYT: “The Defense Department is excited to welcome Elon Musk to the Pentagon on Friday. He was invited by Secretary [Pete] Hegseth and is just visiting.” A White House spokesperson didn’t respond to their request for comment.
In a follow-up post on X, Hegseth said reports about Musk being shown top secret plans was ‘fake news’, saying it’s “an informal meeting about innovation, efficiencies & smarter production.”
Although it’s unclear whether the briefing will go ahead, there are obvious concerns about allowing Musk access to some of the USA’s most important military secrets.
As the outlet notes, this would be “a dramatic expansion of his already extensive role as an adviser to Mr. Trump,” saying that Musk has been tasked with ‘purging’ the government of “people and policies they oppose.”
Due to Musk’s business interests in China through Tesla and its massive Gigafactory in Shanghai, there are also questions about whether he should be privy to anything involving a potential war, let alone one with China.
Still, it seems the POTUS and Hegesth are presenting a united front that claims the media is hyping this up as something more than it should be.
While most of the world’s eyes appear to be on Russia, could the USA be looking at a different corner of the world for the catalyst that could trigger a potential World War III?

A number of families of Tesla crash victims have banded together and signed a joint letter raising concerns about Elon Musk’s place in the company.
As well as being the owner of X and CEO of SpaceX, the tech billionaire still retains his position as Tesla CEO – despite also heading up the government’s Department of Government Efficiency.
Although Musk’s role as the head of the DOGE makes him a ‘special government employee’ rather than an elected official, the backlash against his cuts to the federal spend have spilled over into Telsa
It’s no coincidence that Elon Musk stepping up with the DOGE coincides with Tesla stocks plummeting. As well as wiping $800 billion of its market cap, Musk lost a jaw-dropping $29 billion in a single day.

President Donald Trump has tried to sweep the increasing Tesla boycott under the rug, even turning the front of the White House into his own Tesla showroom and stumping up for a brand-new Tesla Model S. This caused a stir in itself, especially remembering the Model S has had 37 safety recalls.
Even though Tesla saw a brief uptick in Tesla stocks, boycotts, vandalism, and even bullets being fired at Tesla dealerships continue to paint the EV brand in a negative light.
Things are only getting worse, as the families of seven people who were seriously injured or killed in Tesla incidents involving self-driving technology have written to the Transportation Department.
As noted by Politico, the letter calls for Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to address the potential involvement of the Trump administration in the running of Tesla.
Their concerns include the idea that the POTUS could repeal a rule that requires automobile companies to report crashes that involve advanced driver assistance technologies and automated driving systems: “We are deeply concerned that NHTSA’s oversight of autonomous vehicle (AV) systems may be weakened.
“We fear this important measure is under threat given recent media reports and the influence of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose company operates the most widely used [advanced driver assistance technologies] in America.”
Tesla has to answer to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which still has powers to recall vehicles. It’s reported that several NHTSA employees have been culled by Elon Musk’s brutal cull of probationary employees, and although there are plans to bring them back, the Department of Transportation is bracing for more layoffs.
It’s true that Tesla’s ‘Full Self Driving’ system was scrutinized under the Biden Administration, whereas there were earlier reports that Trump’s transition team were looking at removing the crash report requirements.
The signatories write: “The deaths of our loved ones were preventable. As Secretary, you have the power to ensure these tragedies are not repeated. By maintaining strong federal safeguards, you can prevent more families from having to face the same heartbreak we have endured.”
A Department of Transportation spokesperson reiterated that Duffy’s “heart goes out to the victims’ families, and he takes their concerns seriously.”
It concluded: “As the Secretary made clear during his confirmation hearing, he is committed to allowing NHTSA’s investigators to follow the evidence and operate objectively…
“The agency will continue to enforce the law on all manufacturers of motor vehicles and equipment in accordance with the Vehicle Safety Act and the agency’s data-driven, risk-based investigative process.”

If you like to put the pedal to the metal, you might want to avoid running for President of the United States, as a bizarre stipulation means you probably won’t be able to make the most of your classic car collection.
We’re used to seeing President Donald Trump being motored around in his armored vehicle known as ‘The Beast’. Stocked with the POTUS’ blood type, door handles that can shock attackers, and bulletproof windows, the $1.5 million vehicle can withstand chemical attacks and is Trump’s regular runaround.
Still, Trump has boasted an impressive car collection over the years, including a 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom Saloon, and even an OG Tesla Roadster.
With the recent drama surrounding Tesla, Trump has gotten firmly behind best buddy Elon Musk and bought a brand-new EV.

Turning the White House into his own personal Tesla showroom, the POTUS posed in front of a fleet of Teslas and picked out a shiny red Model S that retails at around $80,000.
The President joked about “giving the Secret Service a heart attack” as he sat in the driver’s seat and said about how the vehicle can reach 95 kilometers per hour in just few seconds.
Saying, “That’s beautiful, that one,” Trump continued: “I’ll give him a check. I do it the old fashioned way …and I don’t want a discount.”
Speaking to the crowd, Trump concluded: “Here’s the bad news. I’m not allowed to drive the car
“I haven’t driven a car in a long time and I like to drive cars. But I’m going to have [the Tesla] in the White House and I’m going to let my staff use it. I’m going to let the people in the country use it and everyone is excited about it. I’m not allowed to use it. Can you believe it?”
It’s not a case of Trump not wanting to drive the Model S – he’s not allowed.
Following the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, the Secret Service enacted a rule that no serving or former President can drive on the roads. Lyndon Johnson was the last President to drive on public roads, and although the rule isn’t law, it’s adhered to by all parties.
Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton all steer clear of getting behind the wheel, while Hillary Clinton says she hasn’t driven since 1996.
The fact that former Presidents aren’t allowed to drive is a cause of contention for them, with Clinton telling Ellen DeGeneres that not being able to drive is the thing he misses the most. Speaking in 2012, he joked: “I mean, if I wanted to give up Secret Service protection for life, I could do it.”
The same year, President Obama was seen driving a Chevy Volt around the White House, with Secret Service agents closing the gates so he wasn’t driving in public. When serving as Vice President, Joe Biden lodged a complaint when speaking at the United Auto Workers conference in 2014, grumbling: “There are a lot of reasons to run for president, but there’s one overwhelming reason not to run for president. I like to get that [Corvette] Z06 from zero to 60 in 3.4 seconds.”
Biden used his appearance on Jay Leno’s Garage to give his ’67 Corvette a rare drive around a Secret Service training area in Maryland.
The Secret Service are tasked with keeping the President and former Presidents safe because they’re trained in “evasive and defensive driving maneuvers,” and while we’re not questioning the driving skills of the POTUS, it looks like he’ll have to admire his new Tesla from afar.
